Joanna Bojczewska / Doyu

Wild Ivy Founder and Practice Host

Doyu Joanna Bojczewska sat her first Zen meditation at seventeen. Awarded a two-year UWC scholarship to India, she spent her formative years in the Western Ghats and the Himalayas. This early immersion awakened her to “Mother India” and seeded a deep, enduring awareness of the ecological and existential tensions of modern civilisation.

In 2012, she shifted from the academic research career as a Social Anthropologist to hands on land and sustainability work. The encounter with Mondo Zen Dialogue directed her to contemplative practice. She formally began Integral Zen training in 2013, took vows with Jun Po Roshi in 2015, and facilitated Mondo Zen at retreats across Europe with Doshin Roshi whilst gaining skills as an organic farmer and pioneering agroecology education projects.

From 2019 to 2024, Doyu completed a 5-year Integral Zen priest training under Daicho Roshi. She co-managed the Integral Zen centre in Spain, now Wild Ivy. Currently, she studies with teachers in both the Zen and Dzogchen lineages.

Professionally, Doyu works as a sustainability consultant and regenerative designer for European food systems. She walks and knows intimately Sierra María–Los Vélez and enjoys active imagination work as the path of transformation.
